Pricing tiers let one service have several prices, for example by yard size, package level or property type. You set the tiers once in Favorites, then pick the right one when you add the service to an estimate.
When to use tiers
Use Tiered when:
The same service comes in several package levels, such as Basic, Standard and Premium.
The price changes with yard size, service level or property type.
You want to pick the right price quickly in an estimate.
Use Simple price when the service always has one price or one rate.
Create a tiered service
1. In the left sidebar, select Favorites, then open the Services tab.
2. Select +, or select an existing service to edit it.
3. Enter the Service name, such as Spring cleanup. Select + Service description to add a description your customer will see.
4. Under Base Price, switch from Simple price to Tiered.
5. Choose how the service is priced: Flat price, Per hour, an area unit such as Per sq. foot or Per acre, a length unit such as Per foot, or Per quantity. The Price field shows Varies by tier, because you enter each price in the tiers.
6. Under Tiers, enter a name and price for each tier. Select + Add tier for more, or X to remove one. A tiered service needs at least two tiers.
7. Add materials, charges and other options if you need them, then select Save.
The service is saved in Favorites under Services, ready to use in your estimates.
Tiers for hourly pricing
When you choose Per hour, enter the Price per hour. A Details section then lets you tell Duranta how long the work takes. Under Unit, choose:
Time: enter the number of hours the service takes, for example 1.5 for 90 minutes.
Rate: enter how much your crew finishes in an hour, and choose the unit: sq ft, acres, cu yd, linear ft or qty per hour. Duranta works out the hours from the measured area or quantity.
Under Tiers, choose what changes from tier to tier with Vary by tier:
Price: each tier has its own price per hour.
Rate or Hours: all tiers use the same price per hour, but each tier has its own rate or number of hours.
How the price is worked out
With a rate, Duranta divides the measured amount by the rate to get the hours, then multiplies the hours by the price per hour:
Price per hour: $60
Tier rate: 1,000 sq ft per hour
Measured bed area: 3,000 sq ft
3,000 sq ft ÷ 1,000 sq ft per hour = 3 hours, and 3 hours × $60 = $180.
Use a tiered service in an estimate
1. In the estimate, select + Maintenance. You can also select an area on the map, then Create service.
2. Start typing the service name and select the saved service under Existing.
3. Check the Service area. Choose a measured area, enter a number or draw the area on the map.
4. Under Base Price, select the tier that fits this customer. Duranta fills in the price.
5. Select Add.
💡 To charge a one-off price, select Custom and enter the price. This only changes the price in this estimate, not the service saved in Favorites.
Tips
Use names your customer will understand, like Small yard, instead of Tier 1.
Sort tiers from the lowest price to the highest.
Three to five tiers is usually enough.
Use materials and charges for costs every tier shares, such as dump fees or delivery.
Turn on Minimum price if the price should never fall below a set amount.
