What are pricing tiers?
Pricing tiers let you save multiple prices under one service instead of creating separate services for each size or pricing level.
For example, one Lawn Mowing service can include:
Small yard
Medium yard
Large yard
This keeps your Favorites list simpler while still giving you different pricing options.
When should I use tiers instead of Simple price?
Use Tiered pricing when the same service has different pricing based on things such as:
Property size
Service intensity
Package level
Use Simple price when the service always uses the same pricing setup.
Where do I create pricing tiers?
On the web:
Select Favorites in the left sidebar.
Open Services.
Open the service you want to edit.
Under pricing, choose Tiered instead of Simple price.
On mobile:
Open More → Favorites → Services.
Open the service.
Choose Tiered pricing.
How do I add a tier?
Select Add tier, then enter:
A tier name
A tier value
Use a name that makes the tier easy to recognize, such as:
Small yard
Every tier needs both a name and a value before you can save the service.
How many tiers can I add?
You can add multiple tiers based on how many pricing levels your service needs.
Why do I see Tier name is required or Tier value is required?
Each tier must have:
A name
A value
Complete any missing fields before saving the service.
What does Vary by tier mean?
Vary by tier lets you choose which parts of the pricing setup change between tiers.
Depending on the field, Duranta may show:
Price varies per tier
Hours vary per tier
Rate varies per tier
Any setting you do not vary stays the same across all tiers.
Why do I see Varies by tier instead of a price?
That field has been configured to use different values for each tier.
The actual value is stored inside each individual tier rather than at the service level.
Which pricing units support tiers?
Unit | Pricing basis |
Flat price | Fixed amount |
Per hour | Time |
Per sq. foot | Measured area |
Per 1,000 sq. feet | Measured area in thousands of square feet |
Per acre | Measured area in acres |
Per quantity | Number of items |
You can also choose a default unit.
Duranta uses that unit automatically when the service is added for pricing.
How does Per hour pricing work?
When you choose Per hour, a Details section appears where you can set a production rate.
Duranta can then calculate the estimated time from the measured service area.
For example:
Price: $80 per hour
Production rate: 2,000 sq ft per hour
Lawn size: 10,000 sq ft
Duranta calculates 5 hours, resulting in a price of $400.
What production rates can I use?
Production rates can be based on:
Square feet per hour
Acres per hour
Cubic yards per hour
Linear feet per hour
Quantity per hour
Choose the rate that best matches how your crew performs the work.
Can the production rate be different for each tier?
Yes.
Turn on Vary by tier for the production rate.
For example, a large property can use a different production rate than a smaller or more detailed property.
Do tiered services still support materials and charges?
Yes.
Pricing tiers only change how the service is priced.
You can still attach materials and charges to the service.
Can I use a price margin with tiers?
Yes.
Your normal Price margin settings can still be applied to a tiered service.
Can I set a minimum price?
Yes.
Use Set minimum final price to make sure the service never prices below your minimum.
This can be useful for small jobs where the calculated amount would otherwise be too low.
Can I round the final price?
Yes.
Use Round final price to the nearest to round the final customer price.
The final result appears as Price with adjustments.
How do I choose a tier on a proposal?
Choose the appropriate tier for the service when pricing it on the proposal.
Only the selected tier is used for that proposal.
Does the customer see every pricing tier?
No.
The customer sees the pricing used for their proposal, not your entire tier list, unless you choose to show additional pricing information.
Why can't I select a tier for a service from a package?
This was a known issue and has been fixed.
If you still cannot choose a tier for a packaged service, make sure Duranta is up to date and try again.
If the problem continues, contact support and include the service that is affected.
