Before you start
To use Tap to Pay on Android smartphone, you need:
A compatible Android smartphone device with NFC
Android 13 or later
Location Services enabled
Location permission allowed for Duranta
NFC enabled in Android settings
A connected Stripe merchant account
Payments enabled in Duranta

Other supported NFC-based digital wallets
Step 1 — Connect your Stripe account
In Duranta, go to '...' More → Duranta Payments → Enable payments.
If your Stripe merchant account is not connected yet, follow the setup flow to create or connect your Stripe account.
Stripe onboarding may open in a browser. Complete the required merchant information there, then return to Duranta.
Step 2 — Enable Location Services
Tap to Pay on Android requires location access to accept in-person payments.
When prompted, allow Duranta to access your location while using the app.
You may also need to confirm that Location Services are enabled in your Android device settings.
Step 3 — Enable NFC
Tap to Pay on Android uses the NFC sensor on your Android device.
Make sure NFC is turned on:
Open Android Settings.
Search for NFC.
Turn NFC on.
The exact location of this setting may vary by Android device manufacturer.
Step 4 — Take a payment
To collect a payment:
Open an invoice (Draft, Pending, or Overdue) in Duranta.
Tap Charge.
Present your Android device to the customer.
Ask the customer to tap their card, phone, watch, or digital wallet on the tap area shown on the screen.
Wait for the payment to process.
Confirm the payment result in Duranta.
How customers should tap their card or phone
When the Tap to Pay on Android screen appears, it will show where the customer should tap.
Contactless cards
Ask the customer to hold their contactless card near the tap area shown on your Android device.
They should keep the card there for a few seconds until the payment reads.
Google Pay
Ask the customer to open Google Pay or their default wallet and authenticate if needed.
Then ask them to hold their phone near the tap area shown on your Android device until the payment reads.
Apple Pay on iPhone
Ask the customer to open Apple Pay on their iPhone and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode.
Then ask them to hold their iPhone near the tap area shown on your Android device until the payment reads.
Apple Pay on Apple Watch
Ask the customer to open Apple Pay on their Apple Watch.
Then ask them to hold their Apple Watch near the tap area shown on your Android device until the payment reads.
Other digital wallets
Ask the customer to hold their phone, watch, or supported payment device near the tap area shown on your Android device until the payment reads.
If the card does not read
Ask the customer to:
Hold the card or device closer to the tap area
Keep the card or device still for a few seconds
Try a different contactless card
Try a digital wallet
Use another payment method if the card cannot be accepted
PIN entry
Some payments may require the customer to enter a PIN.
If a PIN screen appears, let the customer enter their PIN privately.
For security reasons, the PIN pad may appear in different positions on the screen. This is expected behavior.
If PIN entry cannot be completed, ask the customer to try another card, use a digital wallet, or use another payment method.
Receipts
After a payment is approved, you can send the customer a digital receipt if receipt delivery is available for the payment.
