The Ruler tool in the web app

Learn how to measure custom lengths and areas on the property map with the Ruler in the web app.

Use the Ruler to measure anything the AI didn't, such as a walkway, a curved bed or a cleanup zone. You can measure a length, or close a shape to get its area and perimeter.

Turn on the Ruler

Open the customer's page and select the property. In the bottom-right corner of the map, select the Ruler button. Select it again to turn the Ruler off.

Draw a line or a shape

  • Click the map to place points. Each segment shows its length as you go.

  • Press and drag to draw freely, for curves and uneven edges. You can mix both in the same shape.

  • To end an open line, click the last point again.

  • To close a shape, click the first point or right-click.

When the shape is closed, the Measurement card at the top of the map shows its area and perimeter.

💡 Use the undo and redo arrows under the Ruler button to fix a mistake. Select the trash icon to delete the shape.

Add the measured area to an estimate

  1. Draw and close the shape.

  2. In the Measurement card, select + Create service.

  3. Under Add to estimate, choose an estimate for this property, or select New estimate.

The measured area is used as the service area, so you don't need to draw it again.

Saved measurements

Your Ruler measurements are saved with the property. They show on the map whenever you turn the Ruler on, even after you reload the page.

Measurements use the units set in Settings > AI & Unit Settings.
