Routing: Routes, Crews, and the Map

Use Routes to plan a crew’s day, assign jobs, and review the driving route before the crew leaves.

A route includes the crew, date, working time window, and the stops assigned to that crew for the day.

What is a route?

A route is one crew’s scheduled work for a day.

Each route includes:

  • A crew

  • A date

  • A start time

  • An end time

  • A list of job stops in order

Jobs can either be assigned to a route or stay Unassigned.

Routing is the process of moving jobs from Unassigned onto a crew’s route.

You can find routes under Scheduling → Routes.

Routes are available in two views:

View

What it is used for

Board

View routes by crew and drag jobs between columns.

Map view

View the same day on a map with stops and driving estimates.

Create a route

To create a route, click + Route button.

In the route dialog, set:

Field

Description

Dates

Choose one day or a date range (up to a year ahead)

Start time

The beginning of the route window.

End time

The end of the route window. The end time must be after the start time.

Crew

The crew responsible for the route.

Route color

The color used to identify the route across the schedule.

If a crew is inactive, Duranta shows:

Inactive — activate this crew to use it.

One crew cannot have two routes on the same day.

If a route already exists for that crew, Duranta shows:

{crew} already has a route on {dates}. Adjust the dates or choose a different crew.

Routes can be created automatically

You do not always need to create a route first.

If you assign a crew to a job on a day when that crew does not have a route yet, Duranta creates the route automatically.

Duranta may show:

A new route was created for {crew}.

This can happen when you:

  • Assign one job to a crew

  • Assign jobs in bulk

  • Drop a job into a no-route slot in the week view

Add jobs to a route

The Unassigned column shows jobs that do not have a crew assigned yet.

To add a job to a route:

  1. Open Scheduling → Routes.

  2. Find the job in Unassigned.

  3. Drag the job onto a crew’s route column.

The job becomes a stop on that crew’s route.

To remove a job from a route, drag it back to Unassigned.

Each route column shows the number of stops assigned to that crew.

Use Map view

Map view shows the same day as a driving map.

Use it to review where stops are located and how the route looks before the crew starts the day.

In Map view, you can see:

  • Crews listed beside the map

  • Stops shown on the map

  • Driving estimates between stops

  • Stops that could not be placed

  • Map types: Map, Satellite, and Hybrid

  • Zoom and full-screen controls

  • A legend showing crews and stop counts

💡 Driving estimates are available between stops. Click the route line between two stops to see the estimated duration and distance, such as {duration}, {miles} mi.

Follow or hide crews on the map

The crew list beside the map lets you control what appears.

Tap a crew to follow that crew’s day.

You can also show or hide each crew’s route on the map.

If there is no work scheduled for the selected day, Duranta shows:

No work orders scheduled for this day

If a route has no stops yet, Duranta shows:

Add stops to see your route.

Not placed stops

A stop may be marked Not placed if Duranta cannot show it on the map.

This usually happens when the property does not have a location.

To fix it, add or update the property address.

Edit a route

Open a route to edit its:

  • Time window

  • Crew

  • Route color

If the crew has other routes, Duranta asks how far the change should apply:

  • This route only

  • This and all following

This and all following applies the change to that crew’s routes from the selected date onward.

If the change affects multiple routes, Duranta asks you to confirm before applying it.

Change the crew on a route

Changing the crew on a route affects jobs already assigned to that route, so Duranta asks what should happen.

You can choose:

Option

What happens

Assign all jobs to {crew}

Jobs stay on the schedule and move to the new crew.

Unassign all jobs

Jobs move to Unassigned and no longer have a crew.

If the new crew already has jobs on those days, Duranta adds those jobs to the route as well.

Delete a route

When deleting a route, choose the scope:

  • Only this route

  • This and upcoming routes for {crew}

If multiple routes are selected, Duranta may show:

Only the {count} selected routes

Deleting a route also removes blocked time on that route.

Deleting a route never deletes the work. The jobs on it come off the schedule, but they keep their crew.

Duranta says so in the confirmation:

"{n} jobs will be removed from the schedule. They remain assigned to {crew} and will automatically appear on the next routes you create for this crew."

Choosing a crew for a route

When you pick a crew for a route, the list shows the crew name with a short member summary underneath.

The summary uses first names only, for example:

Matt, James, + 3 more

This helps you tell apart crews with similar names. It is not meant to show the full crew roster.

To see the full crew, including every member, equipment, and the Lead, open the crew in Favorites → Crews. You can also view the full crew details on a work order, where the crew card lists the roster.

Inactive crews

Inactive crews cannot be assigned to a route until they are activated.

In the crew list, inactive crews show:

Inactive — activate this crew to use it

This message appears instead of the member summary.

Archiving a crew

Archiving a crew affects its routes and scheduled work.

Past work is kept for history, but future scheduled work must be reassigned.

When you archive a crew:

  • Past routes and work orders stay unchanged. They remain in the schedule with the crew shown as Archived.

  • Upcoming routes are deleted. Any blocked time on those routes is also removed.

  • Scheduled jobs move to Unassigned. The jobs are not deleted, but they no longer have a crew assigned.

  • Recurring work orders stop using that crew.

Before archiving, Duranta shows a confirmation with counts, such as:

  • {n} upcoming routes will be deleted

  • {n} blocked times on those routes will be removed

Review the counts before confirming. Archiving cannot be undone.

Show or hide items on the schedule

Use the View menu to choose what appears on the schedule.

You can show or hide:

  • Cancelled visits

  • Skipped visits

  • Archived routes

Hidden items are still counted on the button, so you know something is hidden.
