What is a proposal?
A proposal is a detailed estimate you send to a lead or client that outlines the scope of work, services, materials, pricing, and terms before the job begins.
How do I create a proposal?
You can create a proposal in several ways: from the Home page by clicking + Create new proposal, from the left navigation bar, from Clients → Proposals → Add a proposal, or from the lead or client details page.
What can I do on the map in a proposal?
You can:
Zoom in and out
Use the ruler tool
Adjust property boundaries
View and edit AI segments
Toggle layers (property boundary, AI segments, trees, services)
What are the two map modes?
The property map has two modes:
Mode | What it shows |
AI Map | AI measurements such as lawn, beds, driveway, trees, and other detected areas |
Services | Maintenance and install areas that have been added to proposals |
Click on the Services icon to switch to Services mode.
How do I turn a measured area into a service?
Select the measured area on the AI Map and choose Add to proposal.
Then choose:
An existing proposal
New proposal
The selected measurement is added as a service with its measured area.
Can I start a new proposal directly from the map?
Yes.
After selecting a measured area and choosing Add to proposal, select New proposal instead of an existing proposal.
Do I have to add measured areas one at a time?
Each proposal service has its own service area, so you can add the measurements you need as you build the proposal.
If you want one service area made from several segments or including an additional margin, create a Work Area first and add that to the proposal.
See Work Areas in the Web App for more details.
Where does a service's area come from?
Open Service area on the service and choose the measurement source.
Available options can include:
Option | What it uses |
Entire property | The whole property |
Yard area | The yard area |
Property perimeter | The property boundary length |
Lawn (excl. trees) | Lawn area with tree canopy removed |
Work areas | A saved Work Area |
Custom draw | A shape you draw yourself on the map |
Entered number | A value you enter manually |
What are the Area, Linear, and Quantity tabs?
These tabs match the type of measurement used by the service.
Area — square footage
Linear — length in feet
Quantity — number of items
Choose the tab that matches how the service is priced.
Can I enter a measurement manually?
Yes.
Choose Entered number, enter the value, and select Apply.
This is useful when the service uses a measurement that is not available from the map.
Why did my service area change after I edited the shape?
If the area was originally measured in 3D, editing its shape on the flat map changes how it is calculated.
Duranta warns you:
This area was measured in 3D. Editing the shape recalculates the area from the flat map and replaces the 3D value.
You can choose:
Keep 3D value
Recalculate in 2D
A 2D measurement can be smaller than the same sloped surface measured in 3D.
How do I draw an install?
Open the install drawing view and use the available tools:
Draw
Erase
Adjust
Duranta confirms when the install area has been created.
Can I make the map easier to trace while drawing an install?
Yes.
Turn on Schematic in the Layers menu to replace the aerial imagery with flat colors and clean outlines.
See Schematic View for a Property: FAQ for more details.
How do I see which areas are already used on a proposal?
Switch the map to Services mode.
You can also use the Layers menu and turn on:
Install services
Maintenance services
Why aren't my services showing on the proposal map?
Open Layers and make sure Install services and Maintenance services are turned on.
Why can't I see Work Areas while building a proposal?
Work Area overlays are hidden in proposal mode so they do not cover the service drawings on the proposal map.
Do service areas update automatically if I re-run the AI?
A re-run creates a new AI analysis of the property.
After re-running, review services whose service areas came from the map to make sure they still match the measurements you want to use.
What is the AI map in a proposal?
The AI map helps you measure and define service areas using automatically detected property features.
Can I hide the AI map?
Yes. You can hide the AI map. When the AI map is hidden, the service areas and AI segments are also turned off.
What are AI map segments?
AI map segments are automatically detected areas of a property, measured in square feet, such as:
